Dietitian

Dr Fred Pender is an academic member of staff at the University of Edinburgh. He holds a number of postgraduate degrees and awards which enable him to draw on the strong evidence base underpinning the science of weight change. He has a specialist expertise in the dietetic approach to weight management. His primary role is two-fold: during preparation for surgery, he will help you to figure out what to think about and how to work towards mastering helpful eating habits. Throughout the aftercare period, he will help you to establish new eating and lifestyle behaviours to sustain your new weight. Dietary change can pose challenges for you in either the run-up to, or following, surgery; Fred is always on hand to guide and support you through any uncertain times you may face.
